Client: Altheimer & Gray LLP | Location: Sites Throughout Indiana and Illinois

Pioneer was retained to perform underground storage tank (UST) compliance assessments and release investigations for more than 30 retail gasoline stations throughout Illinois and Indiana. As part of the contract scope of work, we also provided general consulting to their corporate management team on all environmental issues related to the UST systems located at their facilities including spill response and negotiation with regulatory authorities. During our work for the client, we identified various compliance deficiencies and provided an organized and specific list of recommendations to achieve compliance at their operating facilities and successfully attained formal regulatory closure at numerous sites where releases and petroleum contamination were identified. Again, recommendations were developed and tailored strategies were implemented for corrective action ranging from risk-based closures to active remediation systems to long-term natural attenuation monitoring. Our work was instrumental in eventually allowing the client to sell the portfolio of retail gas stations and realize a greater return on the transaction.
