On behalf of a major manufacturer seeking to consolidate operations in a new facility, Pioneer was retained to perform a pre-demolition asbestos inspection for an assemblage of three adjoining industrial buildings owned by the company, which were constructed in the late 1950s to early 1960s and totaled over 150,000 square feet. Each structure contained a wide variety of finishing materials, identified in several office areas, production area and shipping office build-outs and throughout the general former manufacturing and warehouse spaces, and suspect asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) included numerous types of vinyl flooring, plaster and other surfacing materials, wallboard systems, ceiling panels and drop tiles, window caulking and various types of thermal system insulation. Over the course of several days, Pioneer’s team of licensed asbestos building inspectors collected close to 300 samples for Polarized Light Microscopy analysis in order to determine asbestos abatement needs and assist the client in procuring removal bids and costs.
