About the Role:

Pioneer Engineering & Environmental Services is seeking a Field Laborer and Driller’s Helper.

Who You Will Work With:

This role will work with our environmental and geotechnical groups in Chicago, IL and beyond.

Responsibilities:

  • Help driller in operation of various track- and truck-mounted Geoprobe© drills using direct push, hollow-stem auger and mud-rotary drilling methods to collect subsurface soil and groundwater samples
  • Maintain various drilling equipment and tooling and adhere to routine maintenance schedules
  • Manage workload to meet production requirements
  • Able to keep accurate drill logs and soil profiles

Qualifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Willing to work outside in heat and cold
  • On occasion, long hours and occasional weekends
  • Heavy lifting at occasional times throughout the day
  • A positive attitude and are a team player
  • Occasional multi-day travel

About the Role

Pioneer Engineering & Environmental Services, LLC is currently seeking an entry-level Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL. This individual will participate in a wide variety of geotechnical and materials testing projects in residential, commercial and industrial real estate construction and development, solar farms and transportation markets.

Who You’ll Work With

This position will support our Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Testing Groups and work closely with a Senior Engineer and other technical personnel. This position offers tremendous opportunities for technical and professional growth.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct geotechnical site investigations, soil analysis testing and evaluations;
  • Develop written work plans, cost estimates and proposals;
  • Conduct engineering and scientific calculations to support project designs for shallow and deep foundation systems, slope stability, pavement and site improvements;
  • Data analysis, project reporting and technical consulting services;
  • Client management and day-to-day correspondence from initial proposal through reporting and follow up;
  • Perform materials testing as required using equipment and instrumentation;
  • Perform field testing and inspection services for a variety of field construction services including inspection of drilled shafts, driven piles and other shallow and deep foundation systems;
  • Complete geotechnical lab testing including grain size analysis, Atterberg limits, moisture content and maximum dry density; and,
  • Project invoicing and budget tracking.
Qualifications
  • Minimum B.S. in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering;
  • 0-3 years of relevant experience;
  • E.I.T., P.E. a plus;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact on a high-level professional basis;
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter with desire to provide excellent service and attention to clients; and,
  • Valid Driver’s License
About the Role

Pioneer Engineering & Environmental Services, LLC is currently seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in Chicago, IL. This individual will participate in a wide variety of geotechnical investigation and engineering projects for residential, commercial and industrial real estate construction and development.

Who You’ll Work With

This position will work within our Geotechnical Engineering Group and will work closely with other engineers and technical personnel. This position offers tremendous opportunities for technical and professional growth.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct geotechnical site investigations, soil analysis testing and evaluations;
  • Develop written work plans, cost estimates and proposals;
  • Conduct engineering and scientific calculations to support project designs for shallow and deep foundation systems, slope stability, pavement and site improvements;
  • Data analysis, project reporting and technical consulting services;
  • Client management and day-to-day correspondence from initial proposal through reporting and follow up;
  • Project invoicing and budget tracking;
  • Provide geotechnical support to construction implementation;
  • With experience, mentoring and supervision of other technical and field staff.
Qualifications
  • Minimum B.S. in Civil / Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 3 plus years of relevant geotechnical engineering experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Rocscience, RSLogger, Slide, and other geotechnical software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact on a high-level professional basis.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Enthusiastic, self-starter with desire to provide excellent service and attention to clients.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Professional Engineering (PE) Licensure required.
