Site Investigation/Risk Assessment

Pioneer’s Phase II site investigation and engineering group, which is comprised of engineers, geologists, chemists and environmental scientists, conducts hundreds of soil and groundwater site investigations annually.

Once a property has been initially assessed and the presence of contamination is confirmed, supplemental stages of site investigation are generally needed in order to satisfy regulatory requirements for adequate site characterization. For each project, we develop and implement well-reasoned and technically-appropriate sampling plans to assess soil, soil gas, and/or groundwater so that we fully understand the issues that need to be addressed for closure. The site’s contaminant conditions and regulatory requirements are evaluated in connection with the intended future use of the property to develop the most appropriate approach to closure.

Risk-based assessments are integral in the environmental industry to establish practical, realistic remediation objectives that are based on site-specific conditions. It is this approach that allows many contaminated properties to still be brought back into productive use, often without the need to spend significant time or money on remediation.
